OTOA INTERNSHIPS

Stage Director and Theater Artist, Gia Forakis, Artistic Director of GIA FORAKIS & COMPANY has opening for Production, Managment & Administrative based Internship (with room for growth) to assist in the running of start up ensemble-based Theater Company based in the OTOA Acting & Directing Technique.The candidate should be highly organized, self motivated, dependable, responsible, able to meet and respect deadlines, and comfortable with multi-tasking across a diverse range of activities (from production based tasks to administrative).

The position is ideal for someone who takes pride in his or her work and who is determined to make a career in the Theater, in any of the following areas: actor, director, dramaturg, performance studies, movement studies, theater administration, theater journalist, dance-theater, experimental theater

Recent college graduate is fine. A team player with a positive and professional attitude is essential. The candidate must have basic office and computer skills, such as data entry, spread sheets, organizing mailing lists, and it would be helpful if he/she had any of the additional skills: designing email announcements and news letters, managing and organizing photo and video files, (bonus if you have IT skills, are good with a camera and/or video camera and/or applications such as iMovie or similar, but not essential), assisting in both visual and aural documentation and transcription, eager to learn and interested in being a part of a fast growing acting/directing training studio.

This internship is an opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of a growing acting and directing technique, as well as to suggest and develop protocol and design systems for organization, P.R., and management of workshops.

Internships run September-December and March-June. The number of hours per week will vary, but no less then ten hours a week to start, with more hours required during production week. The majority of the work can be done from the candidate’s home with a weekly production meeting in Greenpoint Brooklyn.

A small stipend is offered with this internship plus free OTOA workshops (valued at $200 each) for the length of the internship.
